Stockpiles

Stockpiles Stockpiles are single-use consumables that generate a flat amount of Food Food, Industry Industry, or Science Science.

Mechanics

A basic Food Food Stockpile, Industry Industry Stockpile, or Science Science Stockpile generates 100 of its respective resource. A Food or Industry stockpile applies to a single city, while the Science stockpile applies to the empire as a whole.

Stockpiles cannot be built until Unskilled Labor, Organized Labor, or Pearl Hoarding is unlocked. These have the following additional effects:

  • The Era III technology Unskilled Labor increases stockpile yields by 500 and makes them more expensive to produce.
  • The Era IV technology Organized Labor increases stockpile yields by 1000 and makes them more expensive to produce.
  • The blessing Pearl Hoarding which unlocks alternative ways to create each type of stockpile. These cost less Industry Industry than the standard construction, but require Pearls 8 Pearls per stockpile.

See the #Summary Table below for more details on costs and yields.

Stockpiles do not stack, and using multiple stockpiles of the same type will not increase the yield but will instead extend the duration of effect. For example, using three Food stockpiles in the same city will give +100 Food per turn to the city for three turns. Stockpile yields are not affected by percentage bonuses like the Mill Foundry, Luxury Resources, or governor skills.

ELCP Changes

The Endless Legend Community Patch makes the following changes to stockpiles:

  • Costs are generally reduced.
  • Production costs, market price, and yields scale with Game Speed, except Necrophage's Recycled Stockpiles.
    • Example: A level 2 Industry Stockpile costs Industry 900 and yields Industry 600 on Normal game speed, but costs Industry 450 and yields Industry 300 on Fast.
  • Upgrading Stockpiles to the next level will also reduce their amount by half, rounded up in the player's favour. This can be deactivated in the Advanced Game Settings.
    • Examples:
      • 10 level 0 Industry Stockpiles (10x +100 Industry) will be upgraded to 5 level 1 Industry Stockpiles (5x +600 Industry) after researching "Unskilled Labor".
      • 5 level 1 Industry Stockpiles (5x +600 Industry) will be upgraded to 3 level 3 Industry Stockpiles (3x +1600 Industry) after researching "Organized Labor".
      • 10 level 0 Industry Stockpiles (10x +100 Industry) will be upgraded to 3 level 2 Industry Stockpiles (3x +1100 Industry) after researching "Organized Labor" without researching "Unskilled Labor" first.

Faction-Specific

Necrophages

Necrophages Necrophages' Recycling trait generates Recycled Stockpiles from units (friendly or enemy) dying in battle. One Recycled Stockpile is gained for every 8 corpses. Note that corpses, like experience and other post-battle loot, will only be collected if at least one friendly unit survives the battle.

A Recycled Stockpile provides a flat Food 120 to a city. However, it is distinct from regular Food stockpiles and is not improved by Unskilled Labor or Organized Labor.

Cultists

Cultists Cultists' Weapons of the Enemy trait causes them to immediately raze any acquired city and gain 1 Industry Stockpile per Population Population in the city. For example, conquering a city with Population 5 will generate 5 Industry Stockpiles. This is further enhanced by Destructive Analysis, an Era II technology that grants 1 Science Stockpile per Population Population when razing a city.

Kapaku

The Kapaku Kapaku Era III technology Siege Engineering causes Rubble Stockpiles to be generated when dealing Fortification Damage Fortification Damage to cities. Rubble Stockpiles are functionally identical to Industry Stockpiles.

Miscellaneous

Stockpiles may be bought and sold on the Marketplace after researching Imperial Coinage. They may also be traded in Diplomacy like other resources.

Three unique Naval Facilities, the Food Stockpile Facility, Industry Stockpile Facility, and Science Stockpile Facility, each regularly produce one of their respective stockpiles.

Analysis

A stockpile allows one to transfer large amounts of Industry Industry and Food Food to a specific city, with a slight to severe cost in efficiency. Good uses include developing newly-settled cities, power-levelling a new hero, or the Wonder Victory.

Vanilla Exploits

Prior to ELCP, stockpiles were widely considered an exploit, to the point where stockpile technologies were usually banned in multiplayer games. This is because in the vanilla version of Endless Legend there are mechanics that greatly multiply stockpile efficiency:

  • Pearl Hoarding unlocks stockpiles that can be produced for Industry 100 and Pearls 8, which can then be upgraded to yield Food/Industry/Science 1600 with Unskilled Labor and Organized Labor. This is a huge, essentially free bonus to production. ELCP fixes this by halving the number of stored stockpiles whenever a stockpile technology is unlocked.
  • The Allayi Allayi technology Luxury Alchemists also applies to stockpiles, enabling a single stockpile to have multiple turns of effect. This is removed in ELCP.
