Strategic resources may also be purchased from the Marketplace, unlocked by Imperial Coinage in Era II, without the necessary era or extractor technology.

Some Naval Facilities generate strategic resources. These are revealed once any empire reaches eras I, III, or IV, and do not require any extractor technology.

A strategic resource deposit adds an additional +1 Science Science to the tile's yield.

Vaulters Vaulters can use a single strategic resource as a "Holy Resource", consuming units of the resource in exchange for an empire-wide bonus, similar to Luxury Resources Luxury Resources.
